Spectrum Wireless, Inc. Releases Version 3.0 of Proprietary Integrated Broadband Operating System

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 2001-- Spectrum Wireless, Inc., a Leading Developer of Wireless IP routers, Today Announced the Launch of Version 3.0 of Their Proprietary Integrated Broadband Operating System, Dubbed IBOS(TM)

Spectrum Wireless' Integrated Broadband Operating System(TM) (IBOS(TM)) delivers sophisticated network service capability for fixed wireless broadband networks to provide advanced network service and management elements.

The sophisticated IP feature set gives wireless broadband service operators the flexibility to deliver a wide range of customer solutions in a single box. Some of the features available include DHCP, NAT, VPN, firewall, RIP and OSPF in the dynamic routing set, customizable options for service provider configuration, and traffic shaping so service providers can offer QoS. Spectrum Wireless integrates multiple radio systems in licensed and unlicensed bands for flexibility in frequency and performance including 1.9 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz, and 5.8 GHz. The solution supports different radio systems so the features can be applied across a growing number of wireless transport systems -- providing uniformity in application regardless of the wireless system chosen. A menu-driven interface offers easy configuration and reduces the needs for training. Benefits received by providers include reduced CPE costs associated with additional routers and other equipment. Spectrum Wireless' solution is the only integrated system at the edge of a network enabling routing at Levels 3-7, thus reducing capital expenses and creating more scalable networks that grow to the needs of service providers and end customers.

"Spectrum Wireless is pleased to be able to offer such rich features and functionality to our service providers," said Dave Bukovich, Spectrum Wireless' Director of Wireless Services. "As we launch IBOS(TM) to meet the needs of the telecommunications carrier, private network operator, radio manufacturer, and ISP markets, we look to continue designing and building state-of-the-art wireless routing infrastructure components for WLL/Fixed Broadband systems to solve the challenges of the last mile."
