Spectrum Wireless, Inc. Names Charles Cheng Vice President of Engineering

Bellevue, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 3, 2001--Spectrum Wireless, Inc., a leading developer of wireless IP routers, today announced that Charles Cheng has joined its management team as Vice President of Engineering.

Reporting to Adam Sewall, CEO, Cheng is responsible for overseeing the development of Spectrum's Next Generation equipment and providing visionary and strategic direction for future development.

"Charlie brings with him a deep level of expertise in engineering, particularly within the wireless segment and his experience in working with broadband data networks, wireless technologies, and technical architecture will be instrumental in placing Spectrum Wireless at the forefront of broadband fixed wireless equipment providers in the marketplace," said Sewall. Mr. Cheng brings over 18 years of management and engineering experience in the telecommunications and wireless industries. Prior to joining Spectrum Wireless, he was with Rapid5 Networks, where he was Vice President of Engineering responsible for software and hardware architecture, design, development, planning, testing, and scheduling of product development. Prior to that, Mr. Cheng served as Vice President, Fixed Wireless Services Network Implementation with AT&T Wireless Services and was involved with AT&T's Project Angel. Mr. Cheng has held numerous positions within the telecommunications industry to include Qualcomm, Motorola, and NORTEL Networks.
